Members: A Poll and a Question

Here’s a sneak preview of a poll that will go up in a front page article in the next day our two. Feel free to go ahead and place a vote. We’re also working on a quiz to go up either later in the week or sometime next week and we’ll give you an advance look at that too.

Right now our membership numbers are way too low to entertain the thought of having any kind of serious discussion, so I thought instead of a discussion topic, I’d throw out a question to you.

As you know, a lot of the things we’d like to do with this membership program requires us to have…well, more than five or six of you on board. Obviously then, what we need to do is figure out a way to more quickly grow our membership numbers. Do you folks have any ideas on what we can do to get folks to join us as members? If you do, post your ideas in the comment section below this post. I’m all ears…or eyes, as the case may be. 😉

I’m the one who votred “Only with a Warrant” but after reading about Apple and the FBI I believe I missunderstood the question asked by this poll.

Helping law enforcement is usually a good thing (I work for a web hosting company and sometimes we are asked to collaborate, e.g. in an investigation about phishing).

But putting a backdoor in any kind of system must be the single stupidest idea anyone could come up with, as it’s been demonstrated time and again that crooks *will* abuse it for their own benefit.

Imagine a backdoor in, say Android 4.4, in a device that the manufacturer lost interest and will never update: users of such devices will find themselves between a rock and a hard place.

So, I’d like to change my vote to “Never” which I believe is the only sane answer to this question (no need to change the poll results, just know that one of those votes shouldn’t count).

    Cheers.
