GNU Hackers’ Meeting 2022
This one just got on our radar, so we don’t really know a whole lot about it, but we’ll fill you in on what we do know.
First, it’s a GNU event, which would just about automatically qualify it as an open source event, especially given that our metric is that an event must contain at least 33% open source content to qualify for a listing on our calendar and the “free software” folks with the GNU project are more open than even open source.
Here’s what GNU says about the event, in a slightly unabridged form:
“The GNU Hackers’ Meetings are venues to discuss technical topics related to GNU and free software. GNU Hackers’ Meetings have been taking place since 2007: you may want to look at the pages documenting most past editions which in many cases also include presentation slides and video recordings.
The event atmosphere is always friendly and informal. Anybody is welcome to register and attend, including newcomers.
We updated the GHM 2022 web page with information about the venue, accommodation and transportation.
We are interesting in hearing about your GNU or other free software project: if you have a technical presentation to give you are more than welcome to register.
New projects and new people, even without a long public speaking experience, are particularly welcome. As soon as more talks are confirmed we will also add a preliminary programme on the web page.”
Evidently the cost to attend this two-day event is 60€ (which is about the same number in U.S. dollars), but event organizers said the this year they will be contributing 50€ for students attending the event, dropping the price down to 10€. Qualifying for the discount should be easy. All that’s needed is “proof of enrollment.”
Registration is by email, to which we’ve linked in the blue registration box at the top of this page.
“Please write for registering, either as a speaker or as a normal attendee,” organizers say. “We are looking forward to meeting you.”
As of this writing, no schedule has been posted, so we recommend that you watch the event’s webpage.
If your company or organization will be hosting a Linux or open source-focused event, let us know about it by submitting it to FOSS Force’s Events Calendar. No matter how large or small, from local users group meetings to large conferences, we want to help you get out the word. Submit your event using our convenient online form.
