This one’s still in its planning stage, but it already has a web presence, so we’ll tell you what we know and keep you updated as we learn more.

What We Know

Right now about all we can tell you is that Todd Lewis and the team behind All Things Open, the annual event in Raleigh, NC, are putting this on. Like All Things Open the content will be spread across two days, so we’re expecting there will be some kind of price tag attached to the event.

However, for the big tent ATO event Lewis and the gang have always worked to keep the price as low as possible while still providing a world-class conference, making ATO one of the best bang-for-your-buck values on the open source conference circuit, and we expect this to be similarly priced, if not less expensive since it will be an inaugural presentation.

We also know that Lewis & Company has already started to line up its ducks. On November 1, 2024, Mark Hinkle, who these days is something of an all-things-AI guy, announced in his weekly newsletter, The Artificially Intelligent Enterprise, that he’s “partnered” with ATO for the event. At this point, we have no information about others who might also be involved, but we’ll let you know something as soon as we know something.

Dates and Venues

We can tell you when and where this will happen, however, which is good for those of you who might want to mark your calendar.

It’s going to take place March 17-18 at the Carolina Theater, one of those art deco movie palaces that people of a certain age might remember attending back in the day before multiplexes took over the cinema business. It’s been renovated and turned into performing arts and cinema complex in downtown Durham. For those of you who regularly attend All Things Open, the Carolina Theater is slightly less than 30 miles from the Raleigh Convention Center, which is ATO’s home.

We’re keeping an eye on this one, and will let you know as soon as we know something.

Remember, if you’re organizing a Linux or open source focused event, we will gladly include it in our calendar. You can submit you event by filling out our online Submit An Event form.
