Our September meetup will be special. It’s the final “official” meetup before the All Things Open conference in mid October. We’ll pull out all the bells and whistles to make it great, including the possibility of cool new swag.

The topic will be a unique one – Agentic AI, Interoperability, and Automation: Lessons from the Past, Visions for the Future. We’ll take a trip through time to better understand how we got to where we currently are, and where we might be going in the future.
Dr. Chris Hazard, CTO & co-founder of HowSo will be the featured speaker.

Doors open at 6:00 pm for networking with the RTP tech community, live programming begins at 6:30 sharp. As always, free swag will be available. Food and beverages will also be served.

Talk Title:
Agentic AI, Interoperability, and Automation: Lessons from the Past, Visions for the Future

Nextcloud resilient communication and collaboration.

Abstract:
Imagine a future where machines can seamlessly communicate, coordinate, and make decisions on their own. Les Gasser did when he was a founding figure in the field of multiagent systems in the 1980’s. But how did we get here? And what can we learn from analogous successes and setbacks of the past? This talk takes a fascinating journey through the history of technological advancements, relating lessons learned from the past to today. What can we learn from the early adoption and standardization of network protocols and web services discovery to understand where agentic tool use may be going? Will LLMs play a stronger role in interoperability, contextualization, or functionality? Join Dr. Hazard as we explore the frontiers of agentic AI, interoperability, and automation, and leave with new ideas of the past and for the future.
