FOSS Force Is Looking For a Few Good Writers

Would you like to become part of the FOSS Force team?

In order to expand our coverage, FOSS Force is looking to add two or three experienced writers to our team who are knowledgeable and supportive of free and open source software. We are seeking writers who can write in any of the following areas:

  • Tech business (especially as it relates to open source)

  • Copyrights (Requires knowledge of the GPL and other open source licensing models; more than a layperson’s knowledge of US copyright law a big plus.)

  • Software patents (Again, an understanding of patent law as it pertains to software would be useful.)

  • Open source hardware

  • Open source software projects

  • Raspberry Pi

  • Linux administration (Basically, able to write about all aspects of running a Linux system in a manner that is both relevant and understandable to our general interest FOSS audience.)

Although we are primarily looking for writers with news writing experience (and who can write to our FOSS readership), we will consider knowledgeable writers with no professional experience who bring something to the table that our readers will appreciate. At present, our budget allows us to pay most of our writers a nominal amount on a per article basis, but not enough for you to quit your day job and work for us full time.

We are also looking for “guest writers” to fill several slots each months. If you publish a FOSS blog but don’t want to make the commitment to write for us on a regular basis, writing a one-time article for us might be a great way for you to expand the readership of your blog. Although we aren’t able to pay our guest writers, we will help you get the word out about your blog by supplying a link to your site with your article.

If you are interested in writing for us, either as a guest writer or as a member of our writing team, please contact us through our contact form and let us know something about your writing experience and about your areas of expertise from the above list. If you have any examples of your writing online, please supply us with a URL so we can take a peek.

We will reply to everyone who contacts us — and we’re really looking forward to hearing from you.
