New LibreOffice Calc 26.2 User Guide Now Available

LibreOffice’s documentation team has updated the Calc guide for 26.2, with clearer explanations, polished examples, and step‑by‑step help for everyday spreadsheet tasks.

There’s a new user’s guide available for Calc, which is LibreOffice’s spreadsheet component.

That’s good news for me. I dislike spreadsheets so much that I hardly ever use them. Unfortunately, however, it’s hard to escape them, and eventually I find myself having to either create one, or use one that somebody else has created — usually much to my chagrin. The trouble is, whenever I have to use one, for whatever reason, I have to teach myself how they work all over again.

Take my word for it, if you don’t use spreadsheets often enough that they’ve become second nature to you, they’re not very intuitive.

If you’re thinking that you already have an older copy of the Calc Guide that you’ll just stick with, you might want to do some rethinking — especially given the free price. Hallot said that the 26.2 edition updates the content from the 25.8 and 26.2 releases of LibreOffice Calc and includes many changes from previous editions, in addition to improvements in the English text and overall content.

“We examine the Calc guide from the end user’s perspective—covering step-by-step instructions, explanations of the spreadsheet’s internal workings, and illustrating the use cases where each feature applies,” said Olivier Hallot, the documentation coordinator and guide lead for Calc.

The guide is available in PDF and ODT formats, or can be read online as web pages. You can get your copy either through LibreOffice by going to Help > User Guides, or by visiting https://books.libreoffice.org.
